Member of Knesset Ariel Kallner (Likud) sent a letter on Monday to Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana requesting an urgent discussion of the IDF’s failure to plan during its training exercises for a situation where the PA turns its weapons on Israel. The government explicitly ordered the IDF to train for such a scenario.
In his letter, Kellner stated, “ Hakol HaYehudi reported on an IDF exercise simulating a scenario where many terrorists infiltrate Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria on vehicles and by foot, breach the separation barrier towards the Gilboa communities, Wadi Ara, the Nitzanei Oz Industrial Zone, and other locations. The exercise also included cases of kidnapping and murders, with terrorists taking control of some Jewish communities, and other scenarios.”
"However, contrary to the Cabinet directive to the IDF to prepare for the scenario where the Palestinian Authority and its security mechanisms turn their weapons on Israel, the exercise had the Palestinian Authority's security mechanisms and even the Fatah Tanzim terrorist group cooperate with the IDF," Kallner wrote.

"From these actions in the field, a troubling picture emerges in which the IDF needs the Palestinian Authority's forces to assist it during the attack, while mosques project calls to join the attack over loudspeakers. Given this concerning information and the state of the ongoing war, I request that the Knesset address this matter," concluded Kallner.
”Relying on the Palestinian Authority – a Major Mistake”
In recent days, Member of Knesset Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism) criticized the IDF's exercise, where armed members of the PA collaborated with the IDF. "To have an exercise with penetrations into Jewish communities and suggest that the Palestinian Authority will stop it is not reasonable. This is the same group that has nurtured generations of terrorists. It reflects a failure in planning comparable to the situation on October 6th," said Knesset Legislation Committee Chairman MK Rothman.
"The events of October 7th happened because Israel’s security conception relied on wrong assumptions. October 7th taught us clearly: we cannot prevent terrorism by handing territory to the enemy or trying to bribe them money and quality of life. This enemy wants to kill us and will not come to save us whatever we may offer.”
