PA and Fatah promise terror against Israel

An editorial in the official PA daily yesterday focused on glorifying Fatah’s past terror attacks. This served as an introduction to its warning of future terror, should Israel annex land as proposed in US President Trump’s Middle East peace plan.

The editorial warned:

“The enemies and rivals know the Fatah Movement well. They know that when it speaks, it acts... it will turn [the rejection of the plan] into actions of popular struggle (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) on various levels, because our people will not agree to the annexation of one centimeter of its land.”

The editorial took pride in Fatah’s past murderous terror:

“Fatah has always said only what it is capable of doing, even though once it did the impossible when it fired the first shot (i.e., first terror attack against Israel), and when it turned the rocks of the youths during the glorious [first] Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, murdering approximately 200 Israelis, 1987-1993) into a symbol of the victory of the weak over the strong.”

The official PA daily also stated that the fact that it has “a full quorum in Paradise” is proof that it is properly focused on the Palestinian “national path.” This refers to Fatah’s vanguard role in attacks against Israel, during which terrorists have died as “Martyrs” for “Palestine.” According to Islamic tradition as interpreted by the PA, such “Martyrs” are awarded a place in Islamic Paradise:

“The enemies and rivals know that the Fatah leadership has a full quorum in Paradise (i.e., that Fatah has many “Martyrs” -Ed.), and this means that it has never diverged from the straight national path, and that its vision and decisions were only correct.”

[Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 21, 2020]

Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council Secretary Majed Al-Fatiani also promised violence to “thwart” the Israeli annexation:

“[Al-Fatiani] emphasized that all the Palestinians, and foremost among them Fatah, will oppose the annexation decision with all available means of popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) and will thwart it, and also through an escalation of the political confrontation in the international forums... Al-Fatiani demanded that all the Palestinians participate in their masses in all the activities that are intended to be held this month [June 2020]. He added that these activities will be tantamount to a declaration of the beginning of a national project of peaceful popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror), which will gradually escalate in accordance with national plans whose goal is to thwart the so-called ‘annexation decision.’”

Palestinian Media Watch has reported that along with the statements promoting violence, the PA’s official TV stations have been broadcasting many hate, violence, and terror promoting music videos in recent months.

The following are longer excerpts from the two articles above:

Headline of PA daily editorial: “When Fatah speaks...”
“The enemies and rivals know the Fatah Movement well. They know that when it speaks, it acts. They know that it is not hanging on slogans and is not dealing in them, and that it is not playing with words...
Fatah has always said only what it is capable of doing, even though once it did the impossible when it fired the first shot (i.e., first terror attack against Israel), and when it turned the rocks of the youths during the glorious [first] Intifada (i.e., Palestinian wave of violence and terror against Israel, murdering approximately 200 Israelis, 1987-1993) into a symbol of the victory of the weak over the strong, and when it ascended the UN podium and turned Palestine into a state...
The enemies and rivals know that the Fatah leadership has a full quorum in Paradise (i.e, that Fatah has sacrificed many “Martyrs” -Ed.), and this means that it has never diverged from the straight national path, and that its vision and decisions were only correct...
Fatah is the shield of the national project, and it knows where this project’s red lines lie and will not allow them to be crossed under any circumstances. It has a history that proves this, and what we mean is its struggle against any attempt to erase these lines. The most prominent example of this today is the struggle against US President Donald Trump’s deal (i.e., peace plan), and against the colonialist annexation plan that is included in it. Fatah emphasized yesterday [June 20, 2020] after its [Fatah] Central Committee meeting that it rejects all of the plans whose goal is the elimination of the Palestinian cause. When Fatah emphasizes this rejection, it will turn it into actions of popular struggle (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) on various levels, because our people will not agree to the annexation of one centimeter of its land.”

Headline: “Al-Fatiani: Fatah and our people oppose any Israeli plan that will detract from our national rights”
“Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council Secretary Majed Al-Fatiani emphasized that the Palestinian people and Fatah are refusing any Israeli measure or plan that will detract from the Palestinian people’s national and permanent rights, and foremost among them the Israeli right-wing government’s intent to announce its decision to annex the Palestinian Jordan Valley. He emphasized that all the Palestinians, and foremost among them Fatah, will oppose the annexation decision with all available means of popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) and will thwart it, and also through an escalation of the political confrontation in the international forums...

The terms "all means," "all means of resistance," "all forms," are ‎used by PA leaders to include using all types of violence, including deadly terror ‎against Israeli civilians such as stabbings and shootings, as well as throwing rocks and Molotov Cocktails.

The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance," and "popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders at times to refer to peaceful protest and at times to refer to deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, ‎Mahmoud Abbas defined as "peaceful popular" the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave ("The Knife Intifada"), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded in stabbings, shootings, and car ramming attacks. Abbas said: "We want peaceful popular uprising, and that's what this is." https://palwatch.org/page/9276

The Trump peace plan - US President Donald Trump announced his Israel-Palestinian peace plan "Peace to Prosperity" - commonly known as "the deal of the century" - on Jan. 28, 2020.Main points of the plan:1- Israeli sovereignty would be applied to the Jordan Valley and all Israeli towns and cities in the West Bank.2- Jerusalem, including all its holy sites, would remain under Israeli sovereignty with accommodations made to enable access for Palestinians.3- The remainder of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and part of what is currently Israeli land in the Negev, the Galilee, and Jerusalem - creating a territory almost equal in size to the West Bank and Gaza Strip - would form the Palestinian state, with its capital in neighborhoods in East Jerusalem that are outside of Israel's security wall.4- The Palestinian state would be demilitarized, with Israel responsible for external security and controlling all airspace.5- All Palestinian prisoners except murderers, and those who attempted or conspired to murder would be released. 6- Palestinians in refugee camps would be absorbed into their host countries and, subject to certain limitations, into the Palestinian state.7- Before becoming a state, the Palestinians would have to carry out extensive reform of their laws and institutions, including implementing a new governing system; granting its people due process and basic human rights and freedoms; end all incitement to and incentivizing of terror; end all glorification of terror and martyrdom; disarm Hamas; and adopt a culture promoting peace. The goal of the plan is to create a Palestinian state beside Israel, living in peace and security. The implementation would be facilitated through extensive international investment.
