In recent years, senior members of the security establishment have highlighted the security coordination with the Palestinian Authority security forces and the Fatah Party that controls them. They describe this security cooperation as the reason for the relative "quiet" in Judea and Samaria. Even over the past two years, when the military arm of Fatah, the "Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades," began claiming responsibility for a series of shooting and explosive attacks, the IDF consistently refrained from officially discussing Fatah's involvement in terrorism.
The security establishment's placing of its head in the sand regarding the involvement of Fatah activists in terror attacks has reached the point where even when the IDF is forced to take action against Fatah terrorists, it systematically hides Fatah's role. This contrasts with the IDF's approach to Hamas, where the terrorists’ affiliation is promptly announced. Recent statements by senior Fatah member, Major General Tawfiq Tirawi, who served as an advisor to Abu Mazen and head of Palestinian intelligence, reveal Fatah's deep involvement in the war against Israel.
In an interview last week with the Palestinian Al-Sharq channel Tirawi, who himself took part in terror attacks during the Second Intifada, responded angrily when asked if Fatah's non-involvement in the current war is the result of a decision by Abu Mazen. In the interview, Tirawi rejected the premise and accused the interviewer of spreading lies, claiming that Fatah is fully engaged in the war both in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. This interview was recently uncovered by Hakol HaYehudi and translated by the Regavim Organization’s research department.
Tirawi added that Fatah is coordinating with other terrorist organizations and pointed out that Fatah has supported terrorist groups in refugee camps in various Palestinian cities in Judea and Samaria, including Shechem and Jenin. He further noted that terrorists affiliated with multiple different groups have organized together into unified squads.

Furthermore, Tirawi highlighted the number of casualties from Fatah in recent battles with the IDF stating, "Look at the number of martyrs, how many are from Fatah. Fatah has never relinquished its weapons and has never given up the struggle (against Israel); it will always be at the frontlines of the war.”
Since the beginning of the war, an increasing number of statements by senior members of the Palestinian Authority and Fatah expressing support for terrorism and threatening an eruption in Judea and Samaria have been exposed. Some have gone so far as to openly call for repeating the October 7th massacre in Judea and Samaria. The "Fighting for Life" Forum also exposed several videos showing military training being conducted by the Palestinian Authority for urban warfare, activities that are outside the limitations approved for PA security forces according to the Oslo Accords. These military exercises raised multiple questions about their purpose and what scenario is being planned for.
The Regavim movement stated in response, “Leaders in Israel continue to indulge in a fantasy and blind the public, claiming that these ‘terrorists in uniforms' are partners for coexistence. Meanwhile, Major General Tirawi has admitted outright that Fatah is fully involved in the war together with Hamas. The time has come to stop whitewashing the truth: Fatah and the Palestinian Authority are intricately tied with terror. Along with the recognition that handing control of Gaza to the PA after the war is a nonstarter, we must also recognize that the same is true for Judea and Samaria.”
