Considerable effort was carried out by public relations firms, left-wing NGOs, the media, and other entities to pressure the government and the public to accept a deal with the Hamas terror group. One of the first steps to legitimize the deal was to brush aside any discussion of the price Israel would pay.

The pain of the victims’ families was silenced as those who murdered their loved ones were set free, sometimes to the very same neighborhoods where they perpetrated their crimes. Similarly, the danger posed to every Israeli citizen by the release of senior terrorists and leaders of terror groups was dismissed. This is of course not to mention the way that such deals provide new motive for terror groups to participate in further kidnappings and murders in the future. As the information was mostly hidden, the discussion remained only theoretical and even families at times only found out at the last minute that the terrorist who killed their loved ones was being released.
"The Real Price – Faces, Names, and Terror Attacks" is a new website released by HaKol HaYehudi containing the names of terrorists released in hostage deals, the identities of the Israelis they murdered, and the attacks they carried out. "The Real Price" aims to raise awareness of the painful price we paid, and will continue to pay, to release our hostages. This discussion has been missing among mainstream media, and was hardly heard even on social networks. We invite you to visit the website and review the information presented there for the first time. We encourage you to also share it with your friends and families so that they are aware of the details as well.
On the site, we have compiled the names of the 737 terrorists, including 284 who were serving life sentences, released in the second hostage deal with Hamas in January 2025. We have also included the names of over 700 victims of these terrorists.
Hundreds of hours of work were invested in "The Real Price" by the HaKol HaYehudi team and additional volunteers who tediously collected each terrorist’s name from various sources and tracked down old archives and reports to determine the details of the attacks and the names of the victims. In many instances, given the censorship of the discussion, we found ourselves being the first to inform victims’ families that the murderer of their loved ones was about to be released.
In the Shalit deal one soldier was released in exchange for more than 1,000 terrorists, including Yahya Sinwar, the future leader of Hamas and architect of the October 7th attacks. There is little doubt that the release of Sinwar and other senior terrorists, directly contributed to the October 7th massacre. Furthermore, it was only made possible by the complete censorship of the cost of Shalit's release, aided by a well-funded media campaign that controlled the public discourse.
"The Real Price" website forces us as a society to confront the difficult questions that come with making such a deal. What price are we willing to pay for the release of hostages? Can the released terrorists be prevented from returning to terrorism? How can we honor the memory of victims while negotiating for hostages' release?
The information was carefully compiled and reviewed, however given the lack of a central repository until now, mistakes may exist. We view this project as an ongoing effort and given the sensitivity of the issue, we invite the public to help correct any errors and apologize in advance for any inaccuracies. Currently, the website is only available in Hebrew, however we seek to translate it into English in the near future.
