A group of Arabs harvesting olives on the side of Route 505 near Ariel in the Shomron threw stones at the vehicle of Moshe Puah, who stopped his car and chased away the stone throwers. “How can they be allowed to harvest here?,” wondered Puah in a video he shared after the incident. In the past week alone, at least three incidents of stone-throwing were recorded in the same area under the guise of the Olive Harvest.
Arabs have been caught exploiting the "olive harvest" to perpetrate violence in several other incidents as well. Residents of the Jewish community of Kedumim identified several masked Arabs monitoring the community with binoculars from just a few meters away. Likewise, on Tuesday (Oct. 24th), IDF soldiers arrested an Arab from the village of Yasuf, who was collecting intelligence on a nearby Jewish community. This morning (Oct. 25th), a security team from a Jewish community encountered an Arab wearing a facemask in Binyamin. Upon searching him they discovered that he was gathering information on security forces in the area, and had taken aerial photos of Jewish communities nearby and pictures of breaches in the community’s security fence. In addition they found on his person terror propaganda and photos of Hamas leader Mohammed Deif. The security team alerted the IDF, who arrived at the scene and arrested the Arab for further interrogation.
Another incident was mentioned by Amishav Melet, a Jewish activist, on X, formerly known as twitter. A local security team sent a report on masked Arabs near a Jewish community to the IDF commander of the region. Several hours passed and the army did not arrive to banish the trespassers. When the team inquired about the delay, the IDF commander informed them that he had ordered his troops to distance the Arabs but the Civil Administration had stalled the order.
Melet further noted, "At 14:00, the security team decided to take matters into their own hands and distanced the Arabs. Shortly thereafter, the head of the security team received a call from someone in the IDF who threatened to take away their weapons and told them they should not pass the border of their community under any circumstances... In short, the conception is alive and well,” Melet concluded.
In the ‘Choosing Life' WhatsApp group, residents in Judea and Samaria are advised that if they encounter Arabs in the vicinity of their community or on the roads, they should document the incident as much as possible and report it to the relevant authorities, but at the end of the day, they should try to deal with the problem on their own within the limits of the law.”
